Candidate Info
The Juneau Ski Patrol is a good group of volunteers providing support to Eaglecrest Ski Area. Joining our team is a great opportunity to enhance your mountain skills and help make winter recreation safe and fun for all to enjoy.
Membership requires a certain degree of committment yet the rewards are worthwhile. Our training program takes approximately one full ski season to get checked off, and includes:
- Interview / Skills Evaluation
- National Ski Patrol Outdoor Emergency Care Course ( EMT Certified candidates can take a challenge exam)
- Mountain Procedures
- Toboggan Handling Skills Clinics
- Learn Sweep Routes
- Pre-Season Refreshers in Lift Evacuation, Avalanche & Beacon Search, CPR/AED
Cost of membership is $50 for the 2006-07 season, which is based on a fee schedule by the Alaska Division and National Ski Patrol annual dues. Some training materials are covered by the Juneau Ski Patrol, but there are some class/exam fees as well as minimal initial costs for supplies.
New candidates are always welcome! You must be at least 15 years of age. Strong skiing and good communication skills are key. Thanks for your interest.
